Centre of Excellence, is an innovative initiative of Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna for upliftment of Bihar. Studies have found that many brilliant students among SC/ST/OBC are able to fare better through such support. Bihar can, thus, lead the country through such a socially important step in helping SC/ST/OBC students. Director, CIMP has reiterated the fact that the centre will bring about a complete change in the students aspiring for higher education in management thereby, accelerating development of Bihar in the ultimate analysis. Centre of Excellence aims to be the catalyst in bringing about a radical change in the social and educational profile of Bihar by promoting and developing the competencies among socially backward students of Bihar. This project, first of its kind in India, has been formulated to showcase Bihar as an outstanding state in educational reforms in the country.

A Centre of Excellence(COE) was designed by Dr.V. Mukunda Das, when he was at Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikhode.

Objectives:

1. To identify bright SC/ST and other backward caste students aspiring for admission to IIMs and other foreign universities in Management.

2. To provide them necessary entrance exam training, counselling and personality development inputs in a professional manner so that they will be equipped better to compete in examinations such as CAT, GMAT, and interview processes.

3. To provide any student from SC/ST/OBC with guidance on aspects related to higher education in Management through professional support and counselling.

CIMP has began coaching of SC/ST and OBC students for Common Admission Test conducted by IIMs in the following areas:

1. English

2. Quantitative- skills

3. Logical reasoning

4. Data-interpretation

Selected students will be given admission and other support at COE, free of cost with the help of State Govt.

In year 2010, 100 students will be selected on the basis of written test and interview.

The students inducted for the programme will be Graduates / Post-Graduates from Science / Humanities / Engineering / Agriculture / Medical stream.

Admission notice have been publised in all leading newspaper of Bihar on 3rd & 4th Januray 2010.

Note:- Only Shortlisted candidates will be allowed to appear in the exam.
